Kill Bill and tarantino

I was just curious wat you people thought of kill bill his latest and his old stuff like pulp and resevoir dogs?

Kill Bill is VERY strong on visuals, style and quirky moments but is weaker in stroryline than his other films. If nothing else Tarrantino films are highly watchable.

From an artistic point of view I disagree with the idea of it being split into two films. It really doesn't seem like it needs to be two films - and some scenes seem overlong and some unecessary (they seem to just be there to extend the running time). However I'm sure the 2 movies idea will pay off in terms of box office.

Hey there.

It felt like the first 60 minutes of a movie stretched within an inch of its life to fit 90 minutes.

I had no problem with the dialogue, I thought it sounded and looked good. (except when the Crazy 88 battle goes black and white). But I don't think anything was GREAT. Also the structure felt forced... I love the way Dogs and Pulp plays out. Sure it's out of order but there seems to be some kind of ****** up logic about it.. It just worked. This didn't seem to be there for any other reason than to **** with the order. I'm hoping Kill Bill 2 will sort this out though. But what I hated the most was the fact that there just wasn't enough story to hold 90 minutes. I hated where it ended. I felt cheated. I've not felt so... Unsatisfied coming out of a movie IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.


Reloaded ended at a strange point. But It did feel like you have seen a whole movie. Same with The Fellowship of the Ring. Or The Empire Strikes Back. Those movies ended with the story unresolved but at least you felt like you had seen a whole movie. Kill Bill doesnt...

I was all for Kill Bill being split in two. I liked the idea of see TWO Tarantino movies. It was just more movie to enjoy... But that was when I thought it would be good. But no matter how good Volume 2 is I can't see it making Volume 1 a better movie. Sure it might make the structure make sense. And it might make us a little more emotionally involved with the Bride (something I didn't really have a problem with anyway) But other than that I don't know. Will it make it move faster? (this movie felt long.. Like 2 hours or something. That cant be good for a 90 minute flick) Will it make Vol 1 more interesting? I doubt it.

I reckon Vol 2 has a LOT to do in order to make Vol 1 seem good. I've heard that we might one day get a "real" Kill Bill flick on DVD. Which will be just Volume 1 and 2 cut together. I don't think that's gonna make THAT much difference. Personally I hope Tarantino re edits the film for DVD as a nice tight 2 and a half hour movie. Cut out of the flab that I'm sure would never have made it into Volume 1 had he been forced to release it as one movie.

You hear all the time directors talking about having to cut their favourite shots/scenes for the good of the movie. Because although they loved said scenes/shots The movie just worked better without them. I think the problem here is Tarantino didn't HAVE to do ANYTHING. It's as if Vol 1 has given him the excuse to keep every single shot that he loved in the movie. Even if that does mean 10 minutes worth of shots with the camera slowly moving up and down a samurai sword.

I'll see it again next week... I hope its better on second viewing.

Erm.. Not sure if any of the above will make any kind of sense... I just kind of went off on one.

not seen it yet but the general consensus is that had it been one longish movie instead of two it would of been alot better, removing alot of the *****r.

Of course, Tarantino didnt wanna see any of his pet project removing and the studio doesnt mind us paying twice for the same movie so everyone is a winner but the viewer :\ that said... it might be great when i finaly get my *** out to the cinema

Spolier alert! Don't read this is you haven't seen the movie.

Other then bit's an pieces, I though it really dragged in parts. After a while I got a little tired by all the back story and exposition in regards to some of the characters --especially Ren O'ishi. Just seeing her in that scene holding the guys head in front of all the other Yakuza bosses and reciting to them never to bring up her heritage again or elsed,just summed up her Character beautifuly. Much of everything else (including most of the anime sequences) felt completely unnecessary in regards to the actual story being told in the film.He should of saved all that for the DVD instead in My honist opinion.

On a side note, I find it strange that He used Oliver Stone's old cameraman Robert Robertson for the film. It's not that the guy isn't good --he's fantastic!--it's just at times the movie looked like one of stones own films which I would of imagined be the last thing Tarantino would've wanted. Especially how much he despises stone in the first place.

None the less, it's probably good that Kill Bill dose well as it means the studios might be willing to put out more avant-garde films in the future.

ive got to say that i loved it, the action was great, lots of visuals like the name on the ceral box, the blood was comic book, i can't wait to see part II, He said that part I was action and part II would be the more Tarantion style picture with all the plot.

Kill Bill was definately more style, less substance... but I was really enjoying the movie... until it ended!

It was gutting feeling when the credits came on screen... I could have easily sat there for another two hours... completely cheated!

Miramax are a bunch of corporate arseh*les jumping on the back of the whole LoTRs and Matrix, breaking movies down to smaller chunks... bet they're gonna make us buy two DVDs as well!!

So apart from the marketing/distribution of Kill Bill... its quite a good revenge flick!

Well,well,well... is looks like it may not have been a good idea in splitting it up into two films afterall. The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre is number one at the Box Office, raking in 11 mil bucks on Friday alone( an excellent figure being that the movie only cost 10 mil to make) with Kill Bill allready second in place. Not a good sign.--especially for Harvey Weinstein, who probably isn't feeling to good right now knowing he turned down the distribution rights for the new saw film when He could of got them before anyone else. I bet Michael Eisner ain't to happy about that either...LOL!
